Abstract

As technology has progressed, the demand for a system's reliability and safety under potential faults is
an essential issue. Fault-tolerant control systems strive to handle failures of the system components and
preserve stability while reducing performance degradation to a tolerable degree. Therefore, fault-tolerant
control systems become an urgent necessity, especially for large-scale systems, due to their complexity,
which raises the possibility of malfunctions. The main contribution of this paper is to present a comprehen
sive review of decentralized fault-tolerant control for large-scale systems, including the latest techniques in
this field. Several strategies were compared based on the development of decentralized fault-tolerant control
techniques used to address the impact of faults on such systems
